llanquihue
The Llanquihue is a lake of glacial origin that is located in the Los Lagos region, with an area of 870.5 square kilometers, and is the second largest in the country, characterized by its intense blue color and receives its name from the mapudungun llanquyn-we, "sunken place". Its shoreline reaches an extension of 196.5 kilometers in length, and its average depth has been calculated at 182 m., and can reach 317 m. We find the Osorno Volcano and the Calbuco Volcano in the basin.
Its Germanic legacy is present in architecture, gastronomy and in the development of agricultural activities.
In this basin we find four communes that border the lake: Puerto Octay, Frutillar, Llanquihue and Puerto Varas, which has artistic and cultural venues, museums, restaurants and attractive hotels, cafeterias, places to practice tourism nature, adventure and culture.
