A two-day activity departing on day 1 at 3:00 PM from our agency in Neltume, we will travel by 4x4 for 1 hour and 45 minutes to the Mocho-Choshuenco National Reserve and spend the night in a mountain refuge. Upon arrival at the refuge, we will tour the facilities and then have free time to enjoy the area. In the evening, we will have a pre-activity safety briefing and equipment distribution.
The ascent activity takes place on day 2. Leaving at 5-6 am.
The ascent is trekking over mixed terrain of trails, volcanic rocks, scree, snow, and glacier traverses, with an elevation gain of 1,200 meters over approximately 6 km, until reaching the highest peak of the Mocho Choshuenco volcano at 2,422 meters above sea level (Mocho Summit).
The return is made through the same sector, returning to the shelter to collect the bags and return to Neltume.
It's important to mention that this activity doesn't guarantee summit access, but rather the experience of climbing a volcano. This will depend on each individual's physical condition and the surrounding environment. Mountain weather conditions can vary significantly throughout the day.
