Seven destinations in Lago Ranco to connect with nature during summer vacations

Lake Ranco, the third largest lake in Chile, is an ideal destination to make the most of next summer's vacation. Its diverse landscapes and natural surroundings offer families a variety of ways to relax, explore, and connect with nature.

In this basin, you can find lake resorts, cattle ranches, Valdivian rainforest, cliffs, and viewpoints overlooking islands, waterfalls, and mountains.

There's also a fully paved road that passes through towns and places steeped in history, reminiscent of the region's valuable railway heritage and the passage of the famous poet Pablo Neruda through the area, making the trip an attraction in itself.

With just a few weeks until the official start of summer vacation, Ruténica has selected seven destinations in Lake Ranco that we invite you to explore with your family, friends, or partner.

1.- El Descanso del Quijote Cabins and Harvest Your Food: This experience is designed to enhance your stay at the El Descanso del Quijote cabins, perfectly adding to the charm of this privileged spot on Lake Ranco. Here, you'll enjoy stunning views and first-class facilities, including comfortable cabins with private hot tubs. The harvesting activity, now expanded to include vegetables and herbs, offers a range of options to enjoy, complementing your experience in this idyllic corner ( http://surl.li/nncnf ).

2.- Rafting Río Bueno: The adventure begins at the instructors' agency located in the town of Puerto Nuevo. From there, participants will be transferred to the river entry point, 11 kilometers from the base. After a gentle 600-meter trek, they will board the rafts to begin the activity on the crystal-clear waters of the Río Bueno. Classified as Class III (intermediate level), it is ideal for those new to this activity. It is a memorable day to enjoy with family or friends ( https://shorturl.at/bgtEI ).

3.- Maqueo Experience: Get to know this wonderful gastronomic venture on Lake Maihue, where you can harvest and make your own maqui product, as well as enjoy an exquisite lunch made with local ingredients ( https://t.ly/XBXid ).

4.- Floating the Calcurrupe River: Enjoy this kayak trip along the Calcurrupe River, which connects Lake Maihue with Lake Ranco. A day trip that will allow you to disconnect from everything and enjoy the water, the flora and fauna of the river, as well as a delicious lunch halfway through ( https://t.ly/c6_FY ).

5.- Lafquintue Tourist Center: With a boutique hotel and cabins, this tourist center offers double, twin, and triple rooms, as well as a room adapted for guests with special educational needs. Among the services offered by the hotel is a breakfast based on typical local products. Located with a spectacular view of Lake Ranco, it is the most comfortable option for all travelers looking to enjoy a few days of rest ( http://surl.li/oqiyk ).

6.- Getting to know our ancestors on Huapi Island: On this full day, you'll enjoy breakfast at the campfire, a basic Mapudungun workshop, an intercultural guide, a visit to wool, wood, and medicinal herb crafts. You'll also visit heritage sites, enjoy a picnic lunch, and a Mapuche worldview workshop (https://shorturl.at/rzJMX).

7.- Piedra Disco Route: A gentle trail that goes along an old local road to Cerro Illi, to discover the mystical “Piedra Disco”, which is called that way by the locals and has a carving on its surface that is still very little seen and studied; along with a panoramic view of the interior of Ranco, between native forest with rural bridges, springs and natural waterfalls, and a view of Lake Ranco and Futangue Park and that together with the town of Riñinahue give a small hidden glimpse into the lives that preceded us in these places (https://shorturl.at/goE28 ).
