Entrepreneurs from Los Ríos learned about "the science behind pricing" in designing high-value tourism experiences.

The activity carried out in Río Bueno is part of the Technology Dissemination Program, which was awarded by Fomento Los Ríos to the Pilares Consulting Firm and founders of the Ruténica portal.

Determining how to finance and price tourism products is one of the most crucial moments for those venturing into or seeking to consolidate their business model in this important sector of the economy in southern Chile.

For this reason, the workshop "The Science Behind Pricing" aroused great interest. It was held in Río Bueno as part of the "Designing High-Value Tourism Experiences" Technology Dissemination Program, and all registrations were filled.

This program, aimed at entrepreneurs from Panguipulli, Futrono, Lago Ranco, and Río Bueno, was created by commercial engineers Angélica Sepúlveda and Paulina Valderrama . Through their Pilares Consulting firm, they also launched Ruténica.cl, a website specializing in the digital marketing of tourism along the Lakes and Volcanoes Scenic Route, which encompasses Los Ríos, Los Lagos, and La Araucanía.

During the workshop, concepts such as revenue management were discussed, among other topics. This process involves price management that combines price determination with demand forecasting and available stock of the product or service. Its objective is to maximize profit by attracting the right customer, at the right time, through the most appropriate sales channel.

José Ignacio Sarmiento , commercial director of Tánica Hotels, one of the exhibitors, indicated that these types of workshops allow for the transfer of knowledge to local entrepreneurs, who are keen to improve their businesses. Along these lines, he emphasizes the importance of communicating each business's value proposition to improve the tourism offering in southern Chile.

“The tourism industry tends to attract people, but for the entrepreneurs who took this workshop, it's the venture of a lifetime; all their capital, all their investment, is here, so the level of affection they have for it is enormous. For this reason, they are very willing to learn and implement everything they've learned,” the executive emphasized.

The Technology Dissemination Program, funded by Fomento Los Ríos , includes in-person and virtual work, with participatory learning phases and processes for designing and prototyping tourism experiences.
